DIY Planter Centerpiece

It’s been awhile since I did a DIY project and I decided I wanted to do a fun one for a centerpiece out on the patio! You could also make this DIY planter centerpiece for indoors too, though! I’m all about easy projects and faux plants so this project is perfect for low maintenance in that you won’t have to worry about your plants dying. I also wanted to use faux plants so as not to attract any bugs to our patio! 

List of Supplies Needed for a DIY Planter Centerpiece:

  • Large bowl – this is the scalloped one I used. If it’s sold up sign up for in stock notifications or I linked some other options below!
  • Hot glue gun
  • Bag or two of moss – I used this one as base layer and this one on top
  • Floral foam
  • Faux succulents – all of mine I grabbed from Hobby Lobby but will link similar ones for you in case not available in store! Larger one (similar) – here. Smaller ones (similar) – here. Hanging ones (similar) – here. For a more affordable option of faux succulents, you could grab this pack and use these in your bowl!

First thing I did was cut up my floral foam to fit the majority of the bowl. It’s ok if you don’t have an exact fit because you’ll fill it in with your moss. 

Then you’ll take your moss and start covering the floral foam. Once you have it laid out how you want it, you’ll take your hot glue gun and glue it to the floral foam. 

Then take your largest succulent and push it through the moss layer and into the floral foam. 

Then take your other succulent plants and fill them in around the larger one, pushing through the floral foam with the picks.

Then to create some layers, I just added some spongy moss around the edges! I just glued it to the top of the base layer moss.
